I was out there on Saturday, after fishing Long. We got there at sundown and did not fish long. We were just off Johnson's. Not a bite and there were very few poeple out. Is this lake kinda dead now? First time I have fished there in a few years, I have read on GFP that the panfish hatch has not been good in a few years.

I heard the net surveys were fair to good on both perch and walleye. Myself, i fished the Doug horstead tourney , and didnt even mark a fish. Drilled approx. 50 holes and nothing. So , i dunno Question

I just re-checked the surveys, they are good, very good for perch. But from 02-06 icefishing has been hard. Looks like they have enough to eat during the winter. I will just have to try it from shore in the spring.

Madison is full of panfish, not a ton of gills but I would have to put it in the top 5 panfish lakes in the state if you are going by numbers that is. I agree it is one of the hardest lakes to fish in the winter last year we found the crappies and perch 3 or 4 times and that was it. Mad
